What types of races will be held?

Thunder Plains will offer races for Thoroughbred, Quarter Horse, and other breeds based on the population of horses that are available.

Will the track be family friendly?

Yes! Thunder Plains Park welcomes guests of all ages to enjoy the day with us. 

What should I expect on race day?

While the 2025 season will feature temporary structures, the essential components, including barns, racing officials’ tower, video patrol towers, and spectator areas, will be in place. There will also be restroom facilities and food/beverages available for purchase on site. 

How can I get involved as a volunteer, sponsor or vendor?

For the horsemen

What are the specifications of the track?

The racetrack will be a mile-long dirt track, a length considered safer for horses and riders than shorter options.

It will also include a full-length safety rail, featuring inward-tilted panels at the top. This protects jockeys from making direct contact with the rail and guides any falls away from the track and oncoming horses. 

When will I be able to submit race entries?

What is the purse structure?

The purse structure will be very competitive. More details to come!

Are there training facilities on-site?

On non-race days, there will be track access for training opportunities. Details to come! 

Is there on-site accommodation for riders and trainers?

There will be room for RV’s and campers; more details to come.

All elements of our track place high emphasis on horse care and safety protocols, including a full-length safety rail.
